Poems
at the Palace:
A
personal journey into spirituality through the eyes of
the poets.
Poems
at the Palace is a project initiated five years ago, as
a way of exploring spirituality through poetry, and still
enjoying great success. There are four evenings each spring,
when contributors are asked to select and present the
work of a favourite poet, and to say something about their
response to it. The venue for the event is Bishopthorpe
Palace, and the approach is informal, with wine served
both at the beginning of the evening and at a halfway
point. Each session is chaired by the Provost of Langwith
College of York University. The audience is encouraged
to interact with the contributors, and the level of presentation
and discussion has been consistently high.
